Homeless couple gets more than blessed at '06 Festival

Homeless and Desperate

I want to share a wonderful story with you about a former homeless married couple who came to Bless Fest 2006. They stayed the entire day and night at the festival. They also visited the prayer tent on the festival grounds and asked for prayer and turned in a written prayer request. They both were raised Christians, but they re-committed their lives to Jesus on that day. Here is the beauty of how God does things. Kathy & Scott, had arrived from the Greenville, Michigan area, four weeks before the festival. They were living hand to mouth, from shelter to shelter by day and slept under bridges by night most of those days. On the festival day, they prayed earnestly that the Lord would help them in their dire situation and God began answering their prayer, almost immediately. On the festival grounds, they ran into an old friend from Greenville who was on our volunteer team. He encouraged them to seek God, and after hearing that their back packs had been stolen, he went to a store and purchased two new ones for them. The couple enjoyed a wonderful day of free concerts, free food and fellowship. Early on the following morning, I returned to the festival grounds to do some additional cleaning. I noticed a couple sitting on a park bench up on the hill. The Lord told me to go speak to them. When I approached them, I began a friendly conversation and let them know that I was picking up after a festival we had sponsored on the day before. They told me they were at that festival all day and that they loved it! This couple was Kathy and Scott. Our conversation continued and then I asked to pray with them.

God gives Hope!

As we prayed, the Lord gave me a word of knowledge for them. I spoke directly as God revealed it to me. I told them they would both get jobs, an apartment and after that a home of their own. I let them know that God had heard their prayers and that they should stay close to him. I also let them know that we would help them in any way that we could. We exchanged numbers and planned to keep in touch. God placed them on my heart and I’ve continued to speak with them for the months following. Almost right away, they found a warm, secure place to stay at a Christian’s home, near downtown Lansing. Less than three weeks after the festival, Scott called me at home and was excited to tell me that he found a full time job, with benefits! Two days later, Kathy was offered two part-time jobs! She took them both! About a month after that, they called to let me know that they were moving into their own nice apartment, close to a downtown church where they had been attending faithfully. Praise God!

Precious couple, lovingly serves God with renewed devotion.

I feel that the Lord lead these two into our care. I continue to pray for them and have visited with them. Other wonderful Christians have supplied them with home furnishings, etc., but Kathy and Scott are both very resourceful. This precious couple will continue to grow both spiritually as well as materially. The last time we spoke, Scott stated that they are excited about volunteering for Bless Fest 2007! Thank you all for praying and participating in Bless Fest ‘06, especially all of the anointed bands and selfless volunteers! Thanks to all of the other Christians and Christian organizations that have also blessed them, in the last few months it has really made a big difference! Their story is truly a happy one that should be repeated over and over again! That’s what the Bless Fest is all about...blessing others! Rev. Rudy Henderson

Post '06 Festival News
With the actual festival now over, we are beginning to see and hear just what God did that day. We are currently reviewing and following up on all of the prayer requests and many of them were new commitments to faith in Christ! Thanks to all the bands who provided their ministry. We are so happy that people's lives and souls were saved, touched and reached with the Gospel of Jesus Christ!

Bless Fest 2005 Report
August 2005 Once again allow me to thank God for such a wonderful festival on Saturday, August 27 th. I was truly blessed along with all of those who gave of their time and energy in a mission, to bless people. The comment that I heard over and over again from volunteers, was that they were blessed to see so many people enjoy themselves and receive good things. Most importantly people got saved, at our last count it was 22 people who started a new life with Jesus Christ. This is the reason for our labor, we give our God the thanks for this. We were also blessed to have such good speakers who shared their stories, funny, serious, heartfelt and enlightening. Truly we were all blessed, thanks for partnering with us! The Lansing Bless Fest 2005, was a wonderful success! We thank God for blessing this day in so many ways. For those of you who are unfamiliar with this festival I'll leave the original information up on this site, below this message. I want to personally thank all of you who were able to attend and also those who were praying for the success of this project. A festival goer, who was also a volunteer, asked me about mid day on Saturday, if I thought the festival was all that I expected. I answered him that...it was more than I expected! The day started out a little bleak, with rain falling continuosly. All of us agreed in prayer( we had been praying the day before for good weather) that the rain would stop before the event got going. Just after that, it began to rain harder and the winds blow stronger...but guess what? The dark clouds were blown away and we could begin to see clearer skies, the weather forecasters had predicted that the rain might stop about 2 or 3 pm. It was about 10:45 am. Our spirits soared and the musicians worked swiftly to set up all of the sound equipment. We had already set up tents in the drizzle. We have a great God, who truly ordained this festival to happen. Each and every musician scheduled, played throughout the day. Each one was anointed and blessed of God...we could feel his presence. The music was great! By the end of the day, we had official reports that at least 20 people turned their hearts to God to receive Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior! We had even heard that through the ministry of our prayer tent, some individuals even received healing from sickness and pain! It is no greater job for Jesus to save, as it is for him to heal. All good things come from above. The food serving tent, dished out about 1000 meals. We were able to feed many poor, some needy, many homeless and certainly hundreds of thankful festival goers, both Christian and non-Christian. Somebody asked who was paying for all of it. We answered...God. That was our goal to bless the people of Lansing, with joyful music, free food, and blessings! Some of our ministry partners distributed up to 50 back packs, filled with school supplies for kids in need. Another partner, gave out approx. 20 free beauty treatments for ladies. Our children's tent partners, face painted several dozens of smiling kids faces. Our non-profit organizations gave out and spoke to festival goers throughout the day, offering help, advice and encouragement. Puppet shows, balloon animals, etc. were on the grounds and festival goers seemed to really enjoy a day especially planned for them. Yes it was a wonderful day...and we thank all of our volunteers, organizations, participants and sponsors. You made it work for the glory of God! We're already planning Bless Fest 2006! Thank you!
